Lansoprazole
Also known as: Zoton
What it's for
Lansoprazole reduces stomach acid. It treats acid reflux, heartburn, and stomach ulcers. It works in a similar way to omeprazole.
Comes as: Capsules or dispersible tablets
How to take it
- Adults: Usually 15mg to 30mg once a day.
- Take in the morning, 30 minutes before food.
- Swallow capsules whole. Do not chew or crush.
- Dispersible tablets can be dissolved in water.
Doses here are typical. Always follow the instructions from your prescriber or on the packet — they come first.
Common side effects
- Headache
- Feeling sick, stomach pain, or diarrhoea
- Dizziness or tiredness

Important safety points
- Not usually for long-term use without medical advice
- May affect absorption of vitamin B12 if used long-term
- Tell your doctor if you have liver problems
- Check with your pharmacist about interactions with other medicines
Get medical help urgently if…
- You vomit blood or notice blood in your stool
- You have difficulty swallowing
- You lose weight without trying
